Biography
This practice was designed to give patients the time and access they deserve.
Heather Pisano, MS, APRN, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC is a dual board-certified nurse practitioner holding certifications in both Family Health (FNP-C) and Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP-BC). She has over ten years of clinical experience spanning internal medicine, hematology-oncology, and hospice and palliative care — experiences that shaped her ability to manage medically complex patients with both precision and compassion. This foundation allows her to approach mental health and hormone care with a deep understanding of the interconnected nature of physical and psychological well-being.
Heather has completed advanced training through the Heather Hirsch Hormone Academy and the Online Fellowship in Reproductive & Integrative Psychiatry, strengthening her expertise in the hormonal and reproductive influences on women's mental health. She guides women through perimenopause and menopause using evidence-based, individualized hormone optimization protocols while thoughtfully integrating psychiatric care when indicated. She understands how profoundly hormonal shifts can affect mood, cognition, energy, and overall quality of life — and incorporates this knowledge into comprehensive, individualized treatment planning.
Her psychiatric practice focuses on anxiety disorders, OCD and intrusive thoughts, mood disorders including depression and bipolar spectrum conditions, ADHD in women, and the intersection of hormonal transitions and mental health — including PMDD and perimenopausal mood changes. She combines careful medication management with an integrative lens to ensure care is clinically sound and personalized.
Heather founded hp | np Health to create a practice model that prioritizes time, access, and continuity. After years in high-volume clinical environments, she wanted to build a setting where appointments allow for meaningful discussion, thorough evaluation, and individualized plans of care. Her model emphasizes longer visits, direct access, and care decisions guided by clinical judgment rather than insurance constraints.
In-person care is available in Buffalo, NY. Secure telehealth services are available to patients located in New York. She is committed to providing thoughtful, integrative care to women throughout Western New York and beyond.
Clinical Philosophy
Mental, hormonal, and metabolic health are deeply interconnected. I approach every patient as a whole person, recognizing that what happens in the body affects the mind, and vice versa. This integrated perspective guides every aspect of care.
Symptoms are meaningful signals. Rather than simply suppressing them, I work to understand what may be contributing to them — whether hormonal changes, sleep disruption, inflammation, or life circumstances that deserve attention. Addressing these underlying factors allows for more durable and meaningful change.
I practice evidence-based medicine while recognizing that effective treatment often extends beyond medication alone. Lifestyle medicine, targeted supplementation, and mind–body strategies all have a growing research base and are incorporated thoughtfully into care.
The therapeutic relationship itself is healing. This practice was built on the belief that unhurried appointments, thoughtful listening, and continuity of care form the foundation of good medicine.
You are a partner in your own care. I explain my clinical reasoning, discuss options rather than dictating them, and invite your questions and preferences into every decision. Informed, collaborative care produces better outcomes.
Whether you're navigating a mental health challenge, a hormonal transition, or struggles with weight, you deserve care that is free from shame and judgment. I approach every patient with warmth, respect, and the understanding that health is complex and deeply personal.
